Very random videos from the times of our 'youth' are included below. Just for thought - just for memories! What a wonderful time we've lived through! And - the game has been there with us all along the way!
************************************************
*************************************************
A couple versions of Rock Your Baby from 1974.
George McCrae in his later years but with a great arrangement and still a terrific voice.
Then KC & The Sunshine Band doing the instrumental version. They wrote the song especially for George.
I always throught this was such a wonderful song - still do!
************************************************
This is every base-runners dream! Getting THREE STEPS - -the spirit of the mid-70's!
************************************************
Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer - the ladies in black - - oh well - -
Then - Simply Irresistible - - that's easier to watch - less commercials - commercials still to this day stuck to these old video's - why ? - come on - men our age - - and women too - get it!
*************************************************
The late Bear and Blind Owl on lead guitar of CANNED HEAT. Just so fine - so fine and so innocent just being cool. I miss that.
Put this video on FULL-SCREEN, TURN UP THE VOLUME and just listen to the wonderful beat, guitar rhythm & honest words - - so wonderful - - but gone.
*************************************************
Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees
I just wasn't sure about the Bee Gee's back then - - just not sure - - now - who the hell cares!!
*************************************************
Blondie
*************************************************
(Steve Winwood 1997)
(Steve Winwood 1966)
*************************************************
(Animal House - Bluto! We, the 50+ Wood-Bat guys, are the group to offer a significant, futile & immature gesture to lead the way for senior men's sports!! ) Goooooooooooooo!
*************************************************
(When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman - HA! Weren't we all? I really think Dr. Hook with the eye patch would have been a great rightfielder and an asset in the parking lot after the games!)
*************************************************
(Susie Quatro - my favorite girl in the world! She recorded this song with Chris Norman and his cover band "Smokie" in a studio. When it became a semi-hit they had to do a video and you can see how uncomfortable they are together - it's great. They never, ever appeared on stage together doing the song. Susie became a star in Europe as a heavy metal rocker - - really cool!)
AND - I dare anyone to tell me what US TV Show she appeared on as a "Rock and Roll" Star!!!!!!
*************************************************
(The greatest "Good Bye" song in sports - though never recorded with that intention. Where is STEAM? I think every underdog team that pulls of a surprise win has this verse somewhere in their brain!)
*************************************************
(A Whiter Shade of Pale. Hlow many of you have been at a bar after a game and planned to leave - - then - - the waiter/waitress "brought a tray" - - -so nice!)
There is so much more to this song -close your eyes, feel the mood & listen - - "she said there is no reason, and the truth is plain to see" - - I think we've all found that now - - we have - - we share it. It's Good!
*************************************************
(I'm a Girl Watcher - if you don't watch you're nuts!)
*************************************************
('Go Now' - - before anyone realized just how great the Moody Blues would become! This was their 1st single & chart hit. Then they just took off years ahead of their time!)
*************************************************
(Dancin' in the Moonlight - - such a gentle song that means so much to different people for different reasons)
*************************************************
(My old baseball cards. IF you're really into the game, into the past, into what really matters - - then nothing has to be said.
*************************************************

"Swingin" was originally a country hit by John Anderson in the 80's - bar stuff. I like LeAnn's updated version too.
*************************************************
Oh, Oh - - -If you've ever had the blues - - the real deep in the heart blues - this IS the song. Booby Bland - the man. No fancy pics - just the words - - just the words and that's what counts in your soul
*************************************************
I'm hiding this song down here to see if anyone ever notices! It expresses my feelings and I guess my philosophy about life since I can remember. I just can't take it all seriously and why should I have to? Who made up that rule? It's just a wonderful little ride!
Really - is that all there is????
*************************************************
Is this AMERICA or isn't it? I really, honestly don't know. It's patriotic as hell but is it really us - the "us" I know today? I'm not sure at all. I'd love to believe - I really would. Remember how bands and marching and flags seemed so important?
*************************************************
(Surfin' Bird - VIETNAM - - - I served a year in that place! For me it was a learning experience serving with the US Army 1st Aviation Brigade Helicopter units. I was a KID. I got home OK. For those and their families who suffered so dearly, so long ago I can't imagine your pain. I still, to this day, don't understand how it all happened. We have Vietnam Veterans in the League and there really isn't much to say. And - that says it all.
*************************************************
This was how my manty days ended in Vietnam - watching the cute weather girl dancing away. Reality?? For one entire year - - it was for me. And, as I look back, it's as real as today. It's old, tomorrow is new, but the reality of the moment doesn't change at all. Just like yesterday, it's forever and forever locked in my mind.
